1. ago 意为“从前；以前”， 常常表示从现在起若干时间以前，不可以单独作状语，必须和表示一段时间的词组连用，时态常用一般过去时。

2. before 意为“在...之前；以前”， 指过去某时间以前若干时间，也可以笼统地指过去的时间，可单独作状语，常与完成时态连用。
